The High King Lives

Crafty Monday: Apple Week October 1, 2012

Hello friends and Happy Sukkot! Today is the beginning of the Feast of Tabernacles. Last week we started our fall crafts. We began with apples. I had fun decorating for this.

Here is the Fall crafts on my Pinterest:

Fall recipes:

We began with the wormy apple hand-print craft

I painted this apple tree for the door. I found the big apples at School Tool & Toys ( a store for teachers). I never wrote anything on them. I couldn’t think of what to write. I printed out the baskets and used contact paper to “laminate” them for the apple math game. The small apples have addition problems on them and Michael put them in the basket with the right answer.

Schools, Tools, & Toys also had some neat math games etc. I found this wipeable math mat and this electronic math game there. The latter helps with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division memorization. It has 3 levels. We already had the wrap-ups.

We also got this cool “Dress for the Weather” poster. Thanks Hannah for the idea!

We used candy corn to figure out beginning division questions and to learn patterns. Every couple of problems, Michael was rewarded with some to eat :).

I made homemade apple sauce. Michael watched. It tasted good except next time I’ll remove the peelings. They made it slightly bitter. It goes well with oatmeal though.

Later Michael made apple prints and we put it on a wreathe made of a paper plate and green yarn.

I read Applebet to Michael. It teaches the alphabet while talking about the apple harvest.

I put together the plastic bottle apple. Michael helped some.

Michael and I made caramel stuffed apple cider cookies

No apple season here in Hawaii. You really made me miss apple-picking, apple-pealing, apple-butter and sauce making with our boys. Happy Fall to everyone out there who actually gets one.

awwwl sorry you don’t have fall :(. That makes me sad especially since it’s my favorite season. Course Hawaii seems like a paradise. Still I would miss fall. God bless!

  3. You live in a fun house. πŸ™‚

  4. Apples are always fun!! And now is a great time to do apple taste tests by getting 1 of each type of apple from the store and discussing the differences between them all. Fun!!
